Transparency of technology: artists like no other are able to independently and uninhibitedly experiment with technology, play with the effects of technology on society and culture and develop this. The increasing distance between the civilian and the technological state-of-art creates a necessity of artists offering high quality counterplay.
Autonomous techno-culture: in and around Eindhoven, a region with strong technology and design, there is insufficient contact between artists and engineers. Eindhoven’s technology status in Europe and the world cannot be credible without well-developed social-cultural support. One should aim for a joined force creatively to stimulate the cultural implementation of technology independent of bureaucratic-economic relations.
Activating synergy: Knowledge, creativity and curiosity are a very powerful contributor to innovation. These characteristics are abundant among both scientists and artists. By having these two groups cooperate and experiment, unprecedented opportunities can be created. Developing the best of two worlds combined will create new impulses for both art and technology
As an independent intermediary the MAD foundation is a partner and coach for artists, designers and developers who would like to contribute to innovation aimed at society. MAD offers a network, experimental garden, guidance and initiates activities stimulating interdisciplinary co-creation, such as events, exchange and research and development programs. Moreover MAD takes care of public manifestation by exhibiting successful projects and productions to the public. Lab, platform and provider in art, science and technology causing open innovation for social creativity.
